PAGASA Says Tropical Storm Chedeng to Affect PH Weather Condition
The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Tropical Storm Chedeng further intensified and expected to bring rains over some parts of the country.
On Wednesday (June 7, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical Storm Chedeng will affect the country’s wetaher condition.
PAGASA reported that Chedeng was last spotted 1,060 kilometers east of Southeastern Luzon. It has a maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 90 kph. Chedeng will continue to move in the west-northwest direction.
“As Chedeng continues to consolidate while intensifying, it is forecast to move generally northwestward or west northwestward today through mid-Friday, before turning more northward or north northeastward for the rest of Friday through weekend,” PAGASA said
Chedeng is unlikely to directly bring heavy rainfall over any portion of the country within the next three to five days. However, the tropical cyclone may enhance the southwest monsoon.
Habagat is expected to bring cloudy weather condition with rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan.
The southwest monsoon is also expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy weather condition with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
The weather agency has warned the public for possible flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.
The tropical cyclone may cause rough sea condition over the coastal waters of the country in the next 24 hours.
PAGASA said that Chedeng is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) by Monday or Tuesday next week.
