Geneva Cruz Celebrates Emotional College Graduation at Age 49
GENEVA CRUZ – Dreams really do come true with patience and determination, as proven by Geneva Cruz, who finished her college education 33 years after starting it.
Filipina singer and performer Geneva Cruz recently celebrated a meaningful personal milestone after completing her college education at the age of 49, more than three decades after she first began her academic journey.
The proud moment was shared by Geneva on social media, where she posted a graduation photo after earning her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Philippine Christian University in Manila.
For the singer, the achievement represents the fulfillment of a dream that took 33 years to accomplish. Along with the photo, Geneva wrote an emotional caption reflecting on the long path that eventually led her back to the classroom.
“As I approach my golden age in less than a month, I realize that some of my dreams are still coming true. Thirty-three years in the making, but I finally did it! Look, ma, I’m now a college graduate!!!👩🎓🤍
This is for nineteen-year-old Gen, who had to grow up fast and work hard after choosing to become a young mom. Thank you for being brave and for finally learning to love yourself.”
The milestone also served as a tribute to her younger self. Geneva revealed that she became a mother at an early age, which required her to prioritize work and responsibilities over finishing her studies at the time.
Before completing her degree at the Philippine Christian University, Geneva had previously enrolled in AB Literature at the University of Santo Tomas. However, circumstances in her life forced her to step away from college before finishing the program.
Years later, she decided to return to school with renewed determination. In a 2024 post discussing her educational journey, the singer explained that one of the reasons she pursued her degree again was to inspire her children.
“I strongly believe in setting a positive example for my children, which drives me to dedicate time to pursuing my educational goals. It took me a long time to finally return to school and strive to complete college,” she wrote.
Geneva also used her story to encourage others who may feel it is already too late to continue their education.
“Go after your goals—there’s no such thing as being too late!
Don’t even consider your degree a pass or a way to a great life. The point is not that a degree is meaningless but that it should have great value or uphold something of great importance to you. People hire or do business with you based on your skills, attitude, and work ethic rather than just your degree.”
