Customer Praises PWD Crew at Fast Food Restaurant Earns Customer’s Admiration
A PWD crew at a popular fast-food restaurant goes viral and earned the admiration of the online community.
A heartwarming encounter between a customer and a person with disabilities (PWD) working as a crew member at a fast food restaurant in Rosario, Batangas, touched the heart of Mylene Consignado, a 42-year-old resident of Ibaan, Batangas.
Consignado shared her experience of dining alone at the fast food chain when she had a chance encounter with Maria Celeste, one of the restaurant’s crew members. Celeste was busy bussing out tables while Consignado waited for her table to be cleared.
When Celeste approached her, Consignado noticed her identification card and asked for permission to read it.
Touched by what she read, Consignado became teary-eyed. Celeste then grabbed a pen and paper and initiated a written conversation with her.
Their written conversation revealed that Celeste, 29 years old, has a hearing impairment. She also shared that she is married and has two daughters. She tragically mentioned that she recently lost a baby boy.
Consignado, in turn, shared that she has a child diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
The customer expressed her joy at seeing Celeste, who exemplified that her condition is not a hindrance to earning a living for her family.
“Hoping to see more of them giving/sharing the best of themselves… and to our community, let us bear with them,” Consignado wrote in her Facebook post.
The heartwarming encounter between Consignado and Celeste serves as a reminder that individuals with disabilities are capable of contributing to society and should be given equal opportunities.
