Kaila Estrada expressed dismay over the travel tax in the Philippines
Kapamilya actress Kaila Estrada shared her thoughts regarding the travel tax that Filipinos pay.
Kaila is the daughter of showbiz veterans Janice de Belen and John Estrada. Her acting debut was in 2021 through the Kapamilya mystery-drama series Viral Scandal.
She got the “actress” seal when she was featured in an episode of the iconic drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya portraying former radio DJ Karen Bordador.
2023 became her breakthrough year when she had her back-to-back hit roles in Linlang and Can’t Buy Me Love. Through these projects at the early stage of her career, Kaila was able to shine away from the shadows of her parents’ showbiz achievements.
Before becoming an actress, Kaila Estrada made sure she finished her education with her parents’ guidance. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Arts Management from the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.
Aside from being known as beauty and brains, and establishing her name as a versatile actress, her fans are also stanning her for being vocal about social and political issues, just like what she did in her recent social media post.
In an Instagram story, she shared a post concerning the travel tax paid by Filipinos wishing to go abroad for a vacation.
“Isa pa ito. Filipinos pay world-class taxes, but too often receive third-world public services in return. Legal na holdap,” she wrote in her post.
Based on the article in Bandera, many netizens rallied behind the Kapamilya actress’s strong statement.
“Terminal Fee, Travel Tax, Environment Fee, etc for public / government venues. Taxes everywhere but ain’t good thing in return,” a netizen commented, while the other one stressed, “Nagbabayad ng tax ang mga Pilipino para sa ikayayaman ng mga nasa gobyerno.”
Another netizen commented, “Totoo. Broad daylight ang nakawan kaya vote wisely talaga sa susunod na eleksyon,” hirit naman ng isa.”
This is not the first time Kaila has spoken out on issues concerning the government.
It will be recalled that in May 2026, she stated the height of the controversy in the Senate.
“Nanunuod at nakikinig ang mga kabataan. We see what is happening, and we will remember the decisions and actions being made today. Darating ang 2028, and many people will use their voices and votes to demand better leadership and accountability for the country,” Kaila Estrada said back then.
