REQUIREMENTS FOR SSS RETIREMENT BENEFIT 2026 – With regard to special cases, here are the documents required by the Social Security System.

These include cases where the member has dependent children, is incapacitated, under guardianship, confined in an institution, applying under the Portability Law or Bilateral Social Security Agreements, or has unsettled balances under programs such as the Stock Investment Loan Program (SILP), Privatization Loan Program, Educational Loan, or Vocational Technology Loan.
When applying for this benefit, certain situations call for additional documents on a case-to-case basis. Below are the special cases and the corresponding requirements for SSS Retirement Benefit filing.

When the retiree has more than five children
For members with more than five (5) legitimate, legitimated, legally adopted, or illegitimate children, the following must be provided:
- Birth certificate of dependent child/ren issued by the PSA or duly registered with the LCR, especially if the children are not listed in the member’s Personal Record (E1/E4/RS1/OW1/NW1) or if there are discrepancies

If the child was born abroad or the marriage took place overseas, additional documents are required:
- Child born abroad
- Birth Certificate from the foreign government or Report of Birth from the Philippine Embassy/Consulate General
- Marriage certificate registered with the LCR or issued by the PSA, if the spouse is not recorded in the member’s Personal Record or if there are inconsistencies
- Marriage abroad
- Marriage Certificate from the foreign government or Report of Marriage from the Philippine Embassy/Consulate General
When the member is incapacitated and under guardianship
- Guardian’s Photo and Signature Card, if no UMID card has been issued
- Medical certificate from the attending physician (with license number and clinic address), dated within three (3) months of filing, validated by an SSS Medical Specialist at Physical Examination Centers (PECs)
- In-trust-for savings account
- Affidavit for Guardianship of Incompetent Pensioner, if the guardian is the legal spouse
- Application for Representative Payee and Guarantor’s Bond Form, if the guardian is not the legal spouse
When the member has no Marriage Certificate
- Certification of non-availability from LCR/PSA or foreign government confirming intact records but no marriage entry for the requesting party
- Marriage certificate issued by a parish, church, ministry, congregation, sect, LGU, or other authorized solemnizing officer
If no certificate can be obtained from the religious institution, the following apply:
- Certification of non-availability from the parish/church/ministry/congregation/sect concerned; or
- Affidavit/Certificate from the solemnizing officer stating:
- Date of marriage
- Place of marriage
- Reason for non-registration
- Authority to administer marriage, if applicable
- Joint affidavit of two witnesses to the marriage, along with:
- Birth certificates of at least two children showing parents’ names and marriage details (if applicable)
When the member married abroad but had a prior marriage in the Philippines
- Certificate of Finality of Annulment/Nullity or annotated Marriage Contract/Certificate; or
- Certificate of Naturalization before marriage abroad and Decree of Divorce after acquiring foreign citizenship, or its equivalent
When the member has no Birth Certificate
- Certification of non-availability from LCR/PSA or foreign government
- Baptismal/Dedication certificate or equivalent issued by a parish, church, ministry, congregation, sect, or other religious organization, showing the child’s date of birth and parents’ names
The other additional requirements for SSS Retirement Benefit filing may apply in cases involving legally adopted children with unannotated birth certificates, illegitimate children, incapacitated dependents, or dependent children under guardianship. These can be verified at the nearest SSS branch.
