Working Student & Woman Dead During Hit-and-Run Accident in Cavite
An 18-year-old working student and a 43-year-old woman died in a tragic hit-and-run accident in Silang, Cavite.
The tragic road accident reportedly took place along Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road in Barangay Pasong Langka. Another woman, aged 26, who was with the victims, survived the accident but suffered injuries and is currently recovering.
Around 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, the three women were heading home from work when the incident happened. They were crossing the highway together and had stopped in the middle of the road to allow a vehicle from one lane to pass safely.
However, while waiting, another car coming from the opposite direction suddenly hit them. The impact was so strong that all three victims were thrown onto the roadway. The working student was reportedly run over by another vehicle traveling in the opposite lane moments after the initial collision.
The drivers of the two vehicles involved allegedly did not stop to help. Instead, they fled the scene, leaving the victims behind.
The young victim’s family was left devastated by the loss. Her father, who serves as a barangay watchman, was among the first responders called to the accident scene. He did not expect that one of the victims he would encounter that night was his own daughter.
“Duty ako na biglang may tumawag sa amin na may aksidente nga araw na banggaan. Hindi ko in-expect na anak ko pala yung isa,” the victim’s father said.
Her mother shared that their eldest child was excited to begin her first year in college. She had already enrolled and prepared everything she needed for school. The working student had taken a job and planned to work only until the end of her contract before focusing on her studies.
The 43-year-old victim also left behind a grieving husband and two children.
Barangay officials said heavy rain had just ended before the accident happened, and visibility on the highway may have been affected. Authorities continue to coordinate with police to identify and locate the drivers involved.
Meanwhile, the families of the victims are appealing to the public through social media for any information that may help bring those responsible to justice.
