Kapamilya superstar Kathryn Bernardo admitted to these adjustments she went through while working with James Reid.
ABS-CBN superstar Kathryn Bernardo and James Reid, for his comeback, paired up for a fresh story they will be offering soon to their supporters and viewers. This is something big and new for the people, as both of them were once part of two of the biggest love teams in the country years before.
To recall, Bernardo’s last series was the 2022 rom-com 2 Good 2 Be True with Daniel Padilla, followed by a big-screen project with Alden Richards in Hello, Love, Again, the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time. As for Reid, his last TV appearance was in 2016’s Till I Met You with Nadine Lustre.
In a previous article, James shared what he first told Kathryn, and according to him, he said, “I actually told Kath when we first started working, ‘I’m so nervous. I actually haven’t worked with another leading lady.’ And then she was like, ‘It’s okay, I know how you feel.’ At least we’re on the same page.”
Recently, Kath shared her experience working with the actor and admitted that there were some adjustments made on her end. As per her, it took a lot of time for her to adjust to her new character and to the new people she has been working with.
She said, “And ito sa serye, siguro new environment din for me, kasi first time ko working with James, with Ate Maja, with our directors as well. And then I’m back with Dreamscape Entertainment after Mara Clara, which was sixteen years ago. So you know, ang daming bago. So medyo matagal akong nag-warm up and also to get to know my character.”
The actress added that working with James was a big adjustment because they came from different acting backgrounds and love teams. It all feels new to her because, at the same time, they were still adjusting to each other’s working styles.
Kathryn described their collaboration as an exciting experience, especially since they never imagined becoming onscreen partners after years of being linked to different tandems. However, she shared that they did not pressure themselves to immediately build a connection.
For Kathryn, allowing their bond to develop naturally was what made it special, as viewers could see the genuine comfort they have with each other. She admitted that James was initially “unfamiliar” to her, but spending time together during tapings helped her get to know him better.
