Police Arrests 2 Suspects in Killing of Popular Vlogger “Mima Alicia”
Two suspects were arrested over alleged involvement in the killing of the political vlogger Alicia “Mima Alicia” Lipata.
On Thursday morning (July 23, 2026), the Philippine National Police (PNP) has arrested two suspects just six days after she was shot dead outside her home in Caloocan City. The suspects were arrested in Dau, Mabalacat, Pampanga.
Police identified one of the arrested individuals as the alleged gunman, while the other was believed to be the motorcycle driver used in the riding-in-tandem attack.

The arrest greatly helped in the investigation into the death of the popular political vlogger, who was fatally shot in front of her residence in Tierra Nova Subdivision on July 17.
Authorities said the suspects are now under police custody and will face charges of murder, as well as violations of Republic Act No. 10591, which regulates firearms, and Republic Act No. 9516, which covers illegal possession of explosives.
During the operation, police reportedly recovered two hand grenades, a caliber .45 pistol, and a 9mm pistol from the suspects. Investigators believe that the recovered caliber .45 pistol may have been the same firearm used in the attack on Lipata.

The weapon is expected to undergo further examination as part of the investigation.
Police also revealed that the suspects may have links to a criminal syndicate and are being investigated as possible hired killers. Authorities noted that one of the suspects allegedly has previous criminal records.
Despite the arrests, investigators have not yet determined the exact motive behind the killing. Several angles remain under review, including possible personal disputes, previous threats received by the victim, her work as a political vlogger, and the possibility that the crime was a contract killing.
