Gun & Knife Recovered From 2 Grade 10 Students Inside School in Aparri
Two grade 10 students were caught carrying a gun and a knife inside a school in Aparri, Cagayan, after authorities conducted a routine inspection.
On Friday morning, June 26, 2026, the members of the Philippine National Police and the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company conducted an inspection at Aparri School of Arts and Trade following the tragic Tacloban school shooting.
The authorities inspected students’ backpacks in the presence of the school principal. The inspection was part of efforts to maintain safety and security within the school campus.
According to police reports, authorities discovered a caliber .38 revolver in the possession of a 15-year-old Grade 10 student. A kitchen knife was also found in the bag of a 14-year-old student.
Both students were immediately brought to the attention of school officials and law enforcement officers for proper investigation.
Initial findings revealed that the students had allegedly planned to cut classes along with another student before they were intercepted during the inspection. Authorities said the students admitted that personal conflicts may have influenced their decision to bring the weapons to school.
The students involved were identified as residents of Barangay Punta and Barangay Tallungan in Aparri. While no injuries or violent incidents were reported, the discovery of the weapons raised concerns among school officials, parents, and local authorities regarding student safety.
Police emphasized the importance of regular inspections and cooperation between schools and law enforcement agencies to prevent possible threats and maintain a secure learning environment.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the full circumstances behind the incident and whether additional cases may be filed. School officials, meanwhile, are expected to coordinate closely with the students’ families and relevant agencies as the matter is being resolved.
