Former Philippines-based K-pop star and “2NE1” member Sandara Park expressed her heartfelt sympathy for the victims and families affected by the powerful earthquake that struck Mindanao on Monday, June 8, 2026.
A magnitude 7.8 earthquake shook several areas in Mindanao, causing widespread fear and destruction, particularly in Maasim, Sarangani, and Soccsksargen. The strong tremor alarmed residents, students, and communities as it struck early in the morning.
According to records from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the destructive earthquake hit the area at around 7:37 a.m. and was also felt in neighboring towns and provinces. The disaster prompted immediate rescue and response efforts as authorities assessed the extent of the damage and the number of casualties.
On the same day, Sandara took to her X account to share a message of support and compassion for those affected by the tragedy. Having spent a significant part of her early life in the Philippines, particularly in Mindanao, the singer said the region continues to hold a special place in her heart.
“My heart is with everyone affected by the earthquake in Mindanao,” she wrote.
Sandara emphasized that Mindanao remains close to her heart because of the love and support she received from the people there throughout the years.
“Mindanao holds a special place in my heart, and I still remember the love and warmth I received there,” she said.
The singer also offered prayers for the safety and recovery of the affected communities as they begin the difficult process of rebuilding their lives after the disaster.
“I’m praying for everyone’s safety, strength, and recovery,” Dara concluded

Meanwhile, as of this writing, the number of fatalities caused by the devastating earthquake in Mindanao has reached 37, based on records from the Office of Civil Defense (OCD). Authorities continue to monitor the situation while rescue, relief, and recovery operations remain ongoing in the affected areas.
