Michael V talked about the longevity of his gag show
Seasoned comedian Michael V shared the secret behind the success of the longest-running gag show, Bubble Gang.
Michael, also known as Bitoy, is one of the most respected comedians in the Philippine entertainment industry. Aside from his gag show, Bitoy also showcases his brand of comedy in the long-running sitcom Pepito Manaloto.
Bubble Gang has received recognition and awards over the years. After three decades and one year, the show continues to provide laughter and entertainment.
In a recent event called YouTube’s ‘Unstoppable’ 2026 trade event, based on the article in GMA Entertainment, Michael V and creative director Caesar Cosme discussed the key ingredients why Bubble Gang is ‘unstoppable’ in the comedy and in the Philippine pop culture scene.
“Thirty one years is no joke, pun intended [laughs]. Pero talagang ‘yung mga tao behind kasi [ng show] na parang na ano na nila, nakuha na nila ‘yung tamang formula, tamang flavor. So, it will take another generation para matutunan ‘yun,” Michael V said.
He also pointed out that being grounded is a big factor in their show’s longevity. The comedian said that everyone in Bubble Gang makes sure that the audience can relate to their material.
Bitoy also said that research is an important thing when it comes to this. They had to know what was happening in real life and what was happening around them.
Direk Cosme agreed with this. He said that he would always take the road less travelled. “Mahirap gawin iyon, pero gagawin ko. Kahit hindi maintindihan ng viewer ang production value, nararamdaman nila ang effort at care na inilagay sa paggawa,” the director stressed.
The Kapuso gag show is gearing up for its summer special this year. Avid fans of the show can expect more laughs and good vibes to be delivered to them.
