Kapuso actress Heart Evangelista has this to say when asked about what Ate Gay has revealed about her kindness.
Last September 2025, comedian Ate Gay revealed that he has stage 4 cancer in an interview with Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (KMJS). The comedian was diagnosed with a condition called mucoepidermoid squamous cell carcinoma, a rare type of cancer caused by mucous-secreting cells.
When this was publicly revealed, among those who stepped up to help Ate Gay was Heart Evangelista. The fashion icon offered to take her to Singapore for treatment, but since she had already accepted help from someone first, she politely declined. However, despite this, the actress did not stop there, as she monthly sends assistance to Ate Gay to help her in some other ways.
“Tumawag yung PA [personal assistant] niya sa manager ni Allan K. Tapos ayun, nag-connect na kami. Monthly na po niya ako binibiyayaan. Heart thank you, thank you much. Actually, si Miss Chaye, nang mag-offer ng Asian Hospital, si Miss Heart, in-offer-an niya ako na pumunta sa Singapore,” Ate Gay said.
Heart reacted to this revelation, and she was emotional when this was mentioned during her guesting on Fast Talk With Boy Abunda. She was surprised at Ate Gay’s revelation because they had never met and talked after.
“Trivia yung sinabi niya na nag-usap kami, kausap niya yung assistant ko, tapos after that, kinausap niya ako. Gusto lang niya magpasalamat, pero hindi niya alam na ako yon. Kasi, for me, it’s sad, but I‘ve not given so much thought of it,” Heart said.
She added that, even though, as a public figure, everything she does will be judged, criticized, or interpreted differently by others, what matters most is her moral values, faith, or spiritual standing over fame, image, or public approval.
Heart cares more about doing what is right than what is popular.
