Delivery Rider Arrested Over Fake Robbery SchemeĀ in Quezon City

ROBBERY SCHEME – A delivery rider was arrested after pretending to be a victim of a robbery in Kamuning, Quezon City.

On Sunday evening, March 29, 2026, the Quezon City Police District learned the incident after noticing several inconsistencies.  According to the investigation, the rider was supposed to remit P18,500 to a courier service company.

However, the money was reportedly lost through online gambling. In an attempt to cover up what happened, he went to Police Station 10 and reported that he had been robbed by two suspects riding a motorcycle.

He claimed the suspects were wearing black jackets and helmets and fled toward EDSA after taking his cash. At first, the police assisted him and even conducted follow-up operations.

However, officers became suspicious when he still had his cellphone, which the supposed robbers did not take.

Despite their doubts, authorities carried out backtracking and reviewed CCTV footage in the area. The footage showed no signs of any robbery. Instead, the rider was seen alone, calmly riding his motorcycle and even circling the area, with no suspicious individuals approaching him.

The police concluded that the incident was a made-up story. The rider later admitted that the robbery never happened and that he had spent the money on an online gambling game.

He was arrested and charged with estafa and perjury. After his confession, the suspect apologized for his actions and admitted that he made a wrong decision.

Police authorities reminded the public not to use lies to cover up mistakes. They emphasized that investigations will always uncover the truth.

The suspect is now under the custody of Police Station 10 in Kamuning as the case moves forward.
