Security Guard Suffers Injuries After Trailer Truck Crashes Into Wall
A security guard was injured after being hit by a trailer truck that reportedly lost its brakes and crashed into a wall in Pasig City.
Around midnight on Friday, March 27, 2026, a trailer truck allegedly lost its brakes and crashed into a wall along C5 Ortigas Avenue in Pasig City.
According to the truck’s helper, Brian Somoserra, the driver informed him that the vehicle’s brakes were no longer working while they were on the road. They were coming from Manila and heading to Pasig to deliver packages when the incident happened.
“Tumatayo na siya magpreno, ayaw huminto. Nung palusong na namin biglang nagdeclare yung driver ko na kuha raw ako ng kalso. Kinuha ko ‘yung kalso, binuksan ko ‘yung pinto, biglang gumanon na ‘yung trak. Bumangga na sa barrier ng semento. Yung pinto pumalo ulit sakin kaya hindi ako nakalabas,” Somoserra said.
As the truck moved downhill, the driver tried to control it but failed. He then told the helper to get a wheel stopper to slow the vehicle down. While trying to follow the instruction, the truck suddenly sped forward and slammed into a concrete barrier.
The impact caused the door to swing back and hit the helper, trapping him inside. During the crash, a security guard stationed nearby was struck by the vehicle. The guard reportedly tried to run but was still caught in the accident as the truck hit the barrier.
The security guard was left injured and pinned at the scene. As they attempted to help the trapped guard, the driver suddenly disappeared, leaving the scene without assisting in the rescue. This raised concern among responders and authorities.
Personnel from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, along with the police and rescue teams, quickly arrived to respond to the situation. The injured guard was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The helper is now under the custody of the Pasig Police Traffic Investigation Unit to provide details about the incident. Authorities are continuing their investigation and are now searching for the driver who fled.
