Regine Velasquez Speaks About Retiring

Regine Velasquez announces retirement after one last big concert.

Asia’s Songbird, Regine Velasquez, is preparing to take a step back from the spotlight and talked about retiring.

Dadalhin, Narito Ako, On the Wings of Love, You Are My Song, Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka, Tuwing Umuulan At Kapiling Ka, Ikaw, and Sa Aking Pag-iisa are just some of the songs popularized by Asia’s Songbird, Regine Velasquez. However, in a recent interview, she hinted at taking a step back from the spotlight.

According to her, she will be having a final major concert this October before easing into retirement. She still has projects lined up for next year, but eventually, she’ll be retiring, and it’s a part of her plans.

However, she clarified that retiring doesn’t mean she will be putting a full stop. She will just shift away from pressure, which is more appealing to her.

“Sabi ng asawa ko [Ogie Alcasid], retirement means naman not really stopping altogether. It means doing whatever it is that you wanna do. But it frees me from yung pressure of trying to please everyone, which I like,” she shared.

She admitted that she was once worried about what would come next after she retires, but right now, a new perspective on this matter has allowed her to see things differently. She expressed that she has to set herself free from the pressure.

After her retirement, she plans to travel with her husband, Ogie Alcasid. While she continues to prepare for this new chapter in her life, she is taking things one step at a time until she feels fully ready. One thing is certain, though—she will definitely miss what she does.

Meanwhile, what she is preparing for right now is her major concert, marking her 40th anniversary in the industry.
