77-year-old grandfather in Cagayan earns online admiration for his dedication to attending school despite his age.
A TikTok video has gone viral showing netizens admiring a grandfather in Cagayan who patiently goes to school despite his age. The senior citizen garnered various reactions from the online community.
Mario Ressureccion is currently a Grade 12 student at Sampaguita National High School in Solana, Cagayan. He is taking up Agri-Fishery Arts under the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood track.
Despite his age, he continues to attend classes with patience and determination, proving that education has no limits.
“I have my personal intuition that tilling the soil technically is a patrimony for me to eliminate the frugality of my life,” lolo Mario said.
According to his family, Mario dreams of finishing a college degree in Agricultural Engineering someday. He believes that agriculture plays a very important role in the country and wants to be part of improving it, even at this stage of his life.
A practice teacher named James Michael Banawa who was assigned to the school shared how Mario became a familiar and inspiring presence on campus. He was often seen in the library, quietly studying and sometimes asking questions from teachers and interns.
“I noticed him quite often, and I took a video of him last year because it was my first time seeing a student as old as him in person. I felt that his story was worth sharing online,” Banawa said.
Ressureccion’s eagerness to learn made a strong impression on those around him. One of the interns who noticed him frequently took a video and uploaded it online. It was the first time the teacher had seen a student of that age still attending school.
Through his quiet efforts, Mario continues to inspire others to value education and to never give up on their goals, no matter how late they may seem.
