Ilocos Norte Cong. Sandro Marcos Wants Travel Tax Abolished in PH
TRAVEL TAX ABOLITION BILL – The House of Representatives passed the proposed measure in its third and final reading.
Countless Filipinos have several international travels in a year. Undeniably, for these people, the tax implemented right before departing from the Philippines already makes a cut from the budget for the trip and the amount could have been used for other personal expenses during the travel.

Amid the complaints of countless Filipinos over the said tax for international travels, presidential son and Ilocos Norte Cong. Sandro Marcos filed a bill in the House of Representatives that seeks for the immediate abolition of the travel tax.
According to the presidential Son who is also the House Majority Leader, the Travel Tax has allegedly outlived its purpose and has become a burden to many Filipinos when they are traveling. He believes that abolishing it can power up the mobility, economic, and tourism recovery of the Philippines.

“When travel becomes more expensive, fewer people move, fewer people spend and fewer opportunities circulate through the economy. Lowering the cost of travel allows Filipino families to allocate their money where it matters most,” the Ilocos Norte Congressman said.
In the House Bill No. 7443, the younger Marcos stressed that travel is not just a luxury to many Filipinos but a way to reconnect with their loved ones as well as to maintain their source of living. His filing for the abolition of the travel tax came after he also pushed for the implementation of the “no work, no pay” rule in the House.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos share the same view with his son and wants the Travel Tax Abolition bill prioritized. According to the Palace, the President sees that removing the said tax can ease the burden of many travelers who, some, are traveling for work and business.

Recently, according to News5, the House of Representatives has approved the Travel Tax Abolition Bill filed by Romblon Rep. Eleandro Jesus Madrona in its third and final reading. Based on the post, the passing of the proposed measure came with a 257-1-1 voting.
Previously, it was reported that the House’s support on the abolition of the Travel Tax is a huge relief for countless Filipinos.
