Statement of Malacañang on VP Sara Duterte Criticizing Pres. Marcos Jr. over his alleged Shortcomings
Malacañang reacted to the recent criticism of Vice President Sara Duterte against Pres. Bongbong Marcos over his alleged shortcomings as leader of the country.
The rift between Pres. Bongbong Marcos and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte who once made a powerful tandem during the 2022 Elections is no secret to the Filipino people. It has started to become evident after the Vice President resigned from being the education secretary in 2024.
Initially, Duterte did not reveal why she chose to leave the helm of the Department of Education (DepEd). After a while, she admitted that her decision includes both personal and work reasons.
Since she left the education department and the Marcos Jr. Cabinet, the Vice President has become critical of the President and his administration. Recently, during a visit in Digos City, she highlighted Marcos Jr.’s allegedly lack of empathy and sympathy to the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from the Middle East.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos allegedly has lots of shortcomings as the country’s leader. The Vice President also highlighted the alleged corruption issue in the government now.
“Marami siyang kakulangan bilang Presidente, hindi lamang sa pagbibigay ng simpatya at empathy sa ating mga kababayan. More than that ay ‘yung problema at iskandalo sa paggamit ng pera ng bayan,” Duterte said.
Malacañang has given its reactions to the criticisms of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte against Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Based on News5, Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro claimed that it is allegedly what happens if the Vice President is given a wrong information during the interview.
“Nakakuha po ako ng transcript niyan at napansin ko po na maaari na ganito ang nagiging sagot ng Bise Presidente dahil napi-feed siya ng maling impormasyon,” the Malacañang press officer said.
Atty. Claire Castro claimed that the premise presented to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte during the interview allegedly did not mention facts. She blamed the reporter but stressed that the media in the Palace are not like the said reporter.
“Kaya tuloy nasasabi nating naging source of fake news ang Bise President dahil pinagmumulan din ng fake news ‘yung tanong ng ibang reporter. So sana maiwasan ng ibang mga reporter… Iwasan ‘yung ganun,” Castro said.
Furthermore, based on the post, Malacañang press officer Usec. Claire Castro claimed that it is allegedly best for the reporters to remain neutral. According to the Palace official, it is also best to use the eyes and ears first before commenting on something.
“Mas maganda na maging neutral sa pagtatanong para makapagbigay naman ng matalinong sagot ang ating Bise Presidente. Now patungkol sa “maraming kakulang ang Pangulo”, unang-una mas maganda po sana na gamitin muna ang mata at tenga bago ang bibig. Dahil ‘pag inuna natin ang bibig at hindi ginagamit ang mata, tenga, at utak, magkakamali kayo ng sagot,” the Malacañang official.
