Sen. Robin Padilla Speaks on Filipinos’ Support on Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte
ROBIN PADILLA – The Senator claimed that the Filipino people’s support on former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte allegedly won’t vanish.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands since March 2025. The former Chief Executive is faced with three (3) counts of murder as alleged crimes against humanity filed by the ICC prosecution team.

The arrest and the transfer of custody of former Pres. Duterte to the ICC remains controversial. The Marcos Jr. administration is heavily-criticized over the matter. Amid the issue, presidential sister and Senator Imee Marcos aligned herself with the Dutertes.
Sen. Imee Marcos even recently urged the Senate to demand executive department to release the full details on Duterte’s arrest and transfer of custody. She previously claimed that she cannot accept what was done to the former President.

Sen. Marcos even left the senatorial slate of Pres. Bongbong Marcos following the unexpected turn of events last March 11 which brought former Pres. Duterte to The Hague. Visibly, she and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte are close.
Another known Duterte ally in the Senate is Sen. Robin Padilla who has always been proud of his loyalty to former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Recently, he spoke anew on the former Chief Executive.

Through a post on social media, Sen. Robin Padilla stressed that the Filipinos’ support on former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte allegedly won’t vanish. According to him, the time when they can allegedly feel order in the society and the care of the government is marked in the hearts and minds of the Filipino people.
“Ito ang dahilan kung bakit ang mga lider ng bansa na naging instrumento sa mga ganitong pagbabago ay patuloy na binibigyang-halaga ng sambayanan,” Padilla wrote in his post.

Ahead of the confirmation of charges hearing held last February 23 to 27, six (6) Filipino lawyers were added to the ICC legal team of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. The former Chief Executive skipped the hearing.
While in The Hague, former presidential chief legal counsel Salvador Panelo claimed that the Philippine government can allegedly take the custody of Duterte back from the ICC immediately if it wants to.
