Update on Oil Price Hike on Tuesday, March 17, 2026
OIL PRICE HIKE – The Department of Energy announced the price increase in the costs of diesel and gasoline starting Tuesday, March 17.
Despite that United States President Donald Trump had previously said that Iran will be hit much harder if it will halt the global oil flow, several countries continue to be affected by the war in the Middle East. The Philippines is one of the countries which are now feeling the impacts of the tension.

In the Philippines, a bigtime oil price hike started to take place last Tuesday, March 10. Amid the ongoing war in the Middle East and based on the oil costs in the global market, a lot of Filipinos expect that fuel prices will increase once again.
Recently, the Department of Energy announced that there will be another bigtime oil price hike in the costs diesel, gasoline, and kerosene starting Tuesday, March 17, 2026. Based on News5, some oil companies have already announced the fix staggered increase on the prices of their fuel.

Based on the post, the oil price hike on Tuesday, March 17, was confirmed by Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Sharon Garin. Here are the gas stations that have confirmed their staggered pricing:

Previously, Malacañang claimed that there is enough fuel supply in the Philippines, thus, there is no need to do panic buying. Meanwhile, Palace press official undersecretary Claire Castro expressed understanding on Filipinos who want to be prepared.
“Hindi ito ang kagustuhan ng ating gobyerno pero dahil sa tension na nagpapatuloy sa Middle East, kailangan po talagang paghandaan ng mga kababayan natin,” the Palace official said.
Malacañang also previously warned the gas stations who are implementing overpricing in the costs of their fuel amid the situation. According to Palace press officer Usec. Claire Castro, what Pres. Bongbong Marcos wants is for us to help each other. She stressed that there will be consequence for those who will take advantage of the situation to get ahead of others.

“Hindi po tayo kinakailangang maghatakan pababa. At sa mga tao po, hindi po dapat kayo magsamantala. Ang gusto po ng Pangulo ay magtulungan tayo. Kapag kayo po ay nagsamantala, meron po kayong kalalagyan. Kayo po ay madedemanda at maaaring matanggalan po kayo ng pagkakataon na kayo ay makapagnegosyo,” Castro said.
Previously, following his two-day working visit in New York, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. spoke about the oil supply in the Philippines.
