Amid the Middle East Tension, Marcos Jr. Admits Talking to Other Countries for Oil Supply
MARCOS JR. – The President shared that the government is already talking to many other countries for oil supply.
On Tuesday, March 10, the Philippines marked its first bigtime oil price hike amid the escalating tension in the Middle East. Pump prices rose a never-seen-before gap as the global community was alarmed by the happenings after the joint airstrike of the United States and Israel against Iran.

The then-looming oil price hike prompted countless Filipinos to fill up their vehicles’ tanks ahead of the big increase in the costs of fuel. Amid the escalating tension in the Middle East, Malacañang called on the Filipinos to avoid panic-buying.
According to Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro, the Philippines still has enough supply of the basic commodities as well as fuel. Meanwhile, she agreed that the people must really be prepared as we don’t know until when the war would last.

“Hindi ito ang kagustuhan ng ating gobyerno pero dahil sa tension na nagpapatuloy sa Middle East, kailangan po talagang paghandaan ng mga kababayan natin,” the Malacañang press officer Usec. said.
Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. recently flew to New York for a two-day working visit. One of his agenda is to talk to a United Nations official over the escalating tension in the Middle East. Recently, it was confirmed that the President has left U.S.

According to News5, amid the escalating tension in the Middle East, Marcos Jr. confirmed that he’s already talking to other countries for oil supply. He admitted that it is allegedly unpredictable how far the oil prices can go if the situation will continue.
“[The] real problem here that everybody is having to deal with is hindi natin alam kung gaano katagal ito. Hindi natin, kasi yung presyo, kung saan pupunta,” the President said.
Furthermore, based on the post, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. also revealed that he is already talking to other places that can provide oil supply for the Philippines. He claimed that there are now discussions with other countries that PH usually do not buy oil from.
“Naghahanap tayo ng iba’t ibang lugar na makapagbigay ng supply sa atin. We are talking to many other countries who we normally do not buy oil from,” Marcos Jr. added.

United States Pres. Donald Trump believes that the high oil costs will allegedly be “short-term”. The U.S. Chief Executive also claimed that the war will be ended soon. However, Iran claimed that the missile attacks will continue as long as it is necessary and its agenda no longer includes negotiations with U.S.
