Statement of Malacañang amid the Rising Oil Costs due to Middle East War

Malacañang claimed that there is no need for panic buying amid the rising oil costs as there’s complete and enough supply of fuel products and basic commodities in the Philippines.

Amid the looming increase in the cost of oil due to the escalating tension between Iran and the United States, countless Filipinos got their vehicles’ tanks filled up with gas. It is in the pursuit of evading the huge prices of fuel.

United States Pres. Donald Trump previously warned Iran of a much harder attack if it halts the global oil flow. According to the U.S. President, the impact of the war that resulted to high fuel costs would allegedly be “short-term”.

Trump also promised that the United States will continue to safeguard the sufficiency of the global energy and oil supply. He also claimed that the escalating tension will be ended soon.

However, undeniably, countless people were affected by the escalating tension in the Middle East. In the Philippines, pump prices have soared to a level that was never seen before. Even the price of an oil barrel in Dollars has hit a new record after Russia previously invaded Ukraine which also led to high fuel costs.

Recently, amid the worries of the Filipino, Malacañang claimed that there is allegedly no need for a panic buying. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro claimed that country has allegedly enough supply of fuel and basic commodities.

“Hindi po kailangan magkaroon ng panic buying dahil kumpleto naman po at enough pa po ang supply, lalong-lalo na ang ating fuel at ng ating mga basic commodities,” the Malacañang press official.

Meanwhile, based on the report, Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro agreed that the Filipinos should prepare for the impact of the war in Iran. Amid the current situation in the Middle East which affects the other countries including the Philippines, Castro advised the public to report unauthorized price increases.

“Hindi ito ang kagustuhan ng ating gobyerno pero dahil sa tension na nagpapatuloy sa Middle East, kailangan po talagang paghandaan ng mga kababayan natin,” the Malacañang Usec. said.

Recently, amid the United States saying that the war will be ended soon, Iran claimed that it will continue its missile attacks and negotiations with U.S. is “no longer on the agenda”.
