Couple Injured After Motorcycle Slips on Oil Spill in Navotas
A married couple was injured after their motorcycle slipped on a road covered with spilled oil in Navotas City.
On Saturday night (March 14, 2026), the accident happened along a road where oil had leaked from a passing truck, making the surface dangerously slippery for motorists.
According to officials from Barangay NBBS Kaunlaran in Navotas City, the oil spill occurred when a crane truck was on its way to a construction site. The vehicle had reportedly come from Bonita Street and was heading out toward C3 Road when oil suddenly leaked onto the road.
The spill spread across a portion of the street, creating a hazard for vehicles passing through the area.
At around 8 p.m., the married couple happened to ride their motorcycles along the same road. Unaware of the oil scattered on the pavement, their motorcycle lost traction as soon as it ran over the slippery surface. The vehicle skidded, causing them to fall hard onto the road.
Both riders suffered wounds and bruises from the crash. People nearby quickly came to assist the couple and helped bring them to a hospital for medical treatment. Fortunately, they were immediately given attention so their injuries could be properly checked and treated.
After the incident, the owner of the crane truck quickly sent workers to clean the oil that had spilled onto the road. Efforts were made to prevent further accidents that could happen if the slippery substance remained on the pavement.
Fire volunteers also responded to the situation and helped flush away the oil that had spread across parts of the road. Their quick action helped clear the area and reduce the risk for other motorists traveling through the same route that evening.
