Cebu Police Say Viral Impounded Motorcycle Was Only Transferred and Not Used for Personal Reasons
The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has clarified that the viral impounded motorcycle was only transferred.
The agency explained that a viral complaint involving an impounded motorcycle, explaining that the vehicle was not used for personal reasons but was only transported as part of an official police operation.
The issue began after the owner of the motorcycle raised concerns online, saying he saw his impounded vehicle being driven even after it had been confiscated during an operation against motorcycles with modified mufflers.

Following the viral post, the CCPO conducted an investigation to review the incident. According to police information officer Police Lieutenant Colonel Jose Los Baños, the motorcycle was only moved from one police location to another to complete the process of handling impounded vehicles from the operation.
Authorities explained that several motorcycles were confiscated across Cebu City during a synchronized operation on February 28, 2026. The city police director ordered all the seized motorcycles from Police Stations 1 to 13 to be gathered at the CCPO headquarters.
It was done so they could be accounted for before being transported to the Land Transportation Office impounding facility. Since the police office does not have its own truck for hauling vehicles, they coordinated with the Cebu City Transportation Office to request a towing truck.
While waiting for the vehicle that would carry the motorcycles to the LTO area, one Traffic Enforcement Unit personnel volunteered to drive one of the impounded motorcycles to the headquarters to help complete the transfer.
Police records showed that the motorcycle left the TEU office at around 10:27 in the morning on March 1 and arrived at the CCPO headquarters about 22 minutes later. CCTV footage and logbook entries confirmed the route and the travel time.
Based on the findings, investigators saw no sign that the motorcycle was used for personal gain. The police also said the situation became a learning experience, and they are now studying better ways to transfer impounded vehicles in future operations to avoid misunderstandings.
