Aside from his remarks, worse came after the politician insisted that there was nothing wrong with what he said. Even in Suntay’s apology, he still stood with this belief and only apologized to people who took offense from the remarks he made.

He said to the reporters on the sidelines of a Committee on Justice hearing on Wednesday, March 4, “While may mga tao siguro that found the analogy in bad taste, doon sa mga na-offend, inuulit ko, walang malice doon sa pagnanais nating gawin doon sa statement na yun.”

Amid the issues, Viva Artists Agency issued an official statement. Based on the statement, the agency expressed gratitude to fans, fellow artists, and netizens who showed support for Anne.

They believed that it was inappropriate to bring Anne into an issue that did not involve her and condemned the remarks regardless of the situation behind them. They described the comments as offensive and unacceptable.

The statement reflected, “Such statements have no place in any forum, normalizes misogyny and serves to undo decades of progress in the empowerment of women everywhere. It is unfortunate that even in this day and age, there is still a need for this reminder.”

VAA raised the issue of misogyny, stating that the comments contribute to normalizing disrespect toward women and undermine years of progress in women’s empowerment. They called for accountability, especially from public officials, and reminded them to be more mindful, respectful, and responsible with their words and actions.
