Romnick Sarmenta criticized politicians in general who kept on saying things in quise of a joke. “These… politicians. Everything is a joke – until you realise, they are the joke. And they aren’t even funny. Not in the slightest,” the seasoned actor shared.

In the comment section of his post, Romnick received support from netizens who echoed his thoughts about jokes that are “below the belt” or “inappropriate” made by politicians.

The sad thing is, your hard-earned money is paying for their salaries. “Public servant” does not apply to these rascals,” a netizen commented.

Romnick did not mention any name in his post, but she shared this amid the recent intriguing statement made by Quezon City Congressman Bong Suntay about Kapamilya actress Anne Curtis.

In Suntay’s statement, he cited what he thought and felt when he saw Anne at Shangri-La. He said that it awakened a desire in him. Because of this, he received backlash. Following his defense that he did not say anything wrong, he apologized, stressing that there was no malicious intent.

Meanwhile, Romnick Sarmenta also caught the attention of the online community back in November last year, and it was because of his comment on the flooding in the Philippines. In 2025, many areas in the Philippines suffered from flooding, and it was later on found out that there were anomalous flood control projects.
