Here’s an update about Odette Khan, according to Kip Oebanda.
Veteran actress Odette Khan is finally awake, and according to director Kip Oebanda, her condition has improved.
In a previous article, the family of veteran actress Odette Khan called for financial help, as the actress was confined due to several health problems. Khan was confined and bedridden at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute, where she has been undergoing treatment for multiple health issues.
According to her family, Khan has been diagnosed with pneumonia, emphysema, and edema. Fluid was drained from her right lung last Monday, and treatment remains ongoing.
This has reached the halls of the Senate, as Senator Erwin Tulfo called for compassion for patients who are struggling to pay hospital bills like hers. The plight of the 80-year-old screen veteran was raised in a privilege speech at the Senate on Tuesday.
He said his office received a letter from her family stating that her hospital bill had already reached PHP 156,756.23 as of February 24, 2026. This has further increased to more than PHP 200,000.00 exclusive of professional and readers’ fees, caregiving expenses, and medicines.
Recently, according to “Bar Boys” director Kip Oebanda, the veteran actress has awakened, and her condition has improved. To recall, Khan played the memorable role of Justice Hernandez in the 2017 film “Bar Boys” and its 2025 sequel, “Bar Boys: After School.”
According to him, her lungs don’t need draining anymore, able to eat three times a day, and she is fighting.
“This has been a tough week for me personally. But there is some good news — there has been an outpouring of support for Mommy O. Her condition improved. We now have a specialist who said her lungs don’t need to be drained again because of the improvement. She is now awake and is able to eat three times a day. She is fighting with us,” Oebanda shared on his Instagram Story.
