Naga Mayor Leni Robredo Asked about VP Sara Duterte Declaring her 2028 Presidential Bid
LENI ROBREDO – The former Vice President and now Naga City Mayor was asked about her reaction to the announcement of presidential bid of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
It is still roughly two (2) years before the next presidential polls and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has already announced that she will run for the presidency in 2028. According to the daughter of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, she realized that her life is not for her to live alone. She also claimed that she saw how unfaithful Pres. Bongbong Marcos allegedly is with regards to his campaign promises.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and Pres. Bongbong Marcos were running mates during the 2022 Elections. They ran under the platform of unity. However, unexpectedly, they had a falling out in 2024 which was first noticed by the public when Duterte resigned from being the secretary of the Department of Education.
Aside from leaving the helm of DepEd which she said was due to both personal and work reasons, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also left the Marcos Jr. Cabinet. Recently, when she announced her decision to run for president in 2028, she expressed that it was really her intention to leave his Cabinet although she knew that it will supposedly lead to her impeachment.
The early declaration of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte of her presidential bid elicited different reactions. Recently, former Vice President and Naga Mayor Leni Robredo was asked about her reaction to the move of Duterte.
Naga Mayor Leni Robredo was the strongest contender of now-Pres. Bongbong Marcos during the 2022 Elections. She was also a staunch critic of the controversial war on drugs of the Duterte administration. Undeniably, many people believe that she remains to be the strongest bet of the opposition for the presidency.
The former Vice President recently met with Pres. Bongbong Marcos in Naga for the Oplan Kontra Baha initiatives and countless Filipinos were in awe of how they’re able to set aside their political differences for work. However, in other cases, some people accused the move as allegedly political.
Recently, former Vice President and now Naga Mayor Leni Robredo was asked about her reaction to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte announcing her presidential bid in 2028. According to News5, the Naga Mayor expressed her respect on the move of the Vice President.
“Wala naman. Karapatan naman ng kahit sino. Nirerespeto naman natin ‘yun,” Robredo said.
Based on the post, Naga Mayor Leni Robredo refused to talk about politics saying that there are still a lot of things that need to be done. Amid the speculations of some people, Pres. Bongbong Marcos also revealed the “most political thing” that he did during his meeting with Naga Mayor Leni Robredo.
