Man Nabbed for Stealing Karaoke Set from Restaurant Under Construction

A 34-year-old man was arrested after being caught on CCTV stealing a karaoke set from a restaurant under construction in Barangay Concepcion Uno, Marikina City.

Last Sunday afternoon, February 1, 2026, a restaurant owner in Marikina City was shocked after a man stole his karaoke set. The incident was captured on CCTV.

CCTV footage showed the man entering the area by slipping through a tarp that covered the gate. After checking and seeing that no one was around, he climbed inside the unfinished hotpot restaurant.

He even looked into one of the rooms, making sure the place was empty before taking action.

After a few moments, the man was seen carrying out several boxes that contained the karaoke set. One by one, he slid them under the gate and loaded everything onto a pedicab he had brought with him. After that, he calmly left the area as if nothing had happened.

According to the owner, the suspect had been seen before the theft. The night before, the man came to the area asking if he could take some scrap materials, which were given as an act of kindness.

The following morning, he returned again, which later raised suspicion that he had already been observing the place.

After a few days, the suspect came back once more to ask for scrap. Fearing for his safety, the owner chose not to confront him right away. Early Thursday morning (February 5, 2026), the incident was finally reported to the barangay.

While the owner was at the barangay hall, officials noticed the suspect lingering near the restaurant again.

Barangay officers quickly surrounded and arrested the man. The stolen karaoke set, worth nearly 30,000 pesos, was recovered from a neighbor in Barangay Tumana after it was sold for only 500 pesos.

The suspect admitted that hunger pushed him to steal and asked for forgiveness. Records showed this was already his fourth theft case. The victim remains firm in filing a theft complaint, hoping it will finally put an end to the repeated incidents.
