House Justice Committee Tackles 2 Marcos Jr. Impeachment Complaints
MARCOS JR. IMPEACHMENT – The House Committee on Justice postponed the voting on the sufficiency of the substance of the complaints.
Two (2) impeachment raps were filed against Pres. Bongbong Marcos last week. The first complaint was penned by lawyer Andre de Jesus and endorsed by Deputy Minority Leader at Pusong Pinoy Party-list Rep. Jett Nisay. The President is accused of alleged betrayal of public trust.

The ban on the filing of impeachment complaints against Pres. Bongbong Marcos has started after the House Secretary General’s Office has referred the raps to the House Committee on Justice. House Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte Congressman Sandro Marcos vowed that the chamber will not block any impeachment rap.
In the first impeachment complaint against Marcos Jr., several grounds were cited as alleged betrayal of public trust including the transfer of the custody of his predecessor, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, to the International Criminal Court (ICC). The complaint was filed before the Office of the Secretary General of the House of Representatives.

Here are the grounds cited by de Jesus in the impeachment complaint against Marcos Jr. where the President is accused of alleged betrayal of public trust:
- Respondent ordered and enabled the kidnapping and surrender of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
- Respondent is unfit to serve as President due to drug addiction.
- Respondent committed betrayal of public trust when he failed to veto unprogrammed appropriations (UA) and other unconstitutional provisions in the General Appropriations Bill (GAB).
- Respondent engaged in graft and corruption through kickbacks and ghost projects.
- Respondent created the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) to shield corrupt allies.
- Respondent violated the Constitution and betrayed public trust by surrendering former President Duterte to the ICC.

Yesterday, the House justice panel declared two (2) impeachment raps against Marcos Jr. as “sufficient in form”. The next part of the process is the voting on the sufficiency of the substance of the impeachment complaints against the President.
According to News5, the House Committee on Justice postponed the voting on the sufficiency of the substance of the two (2) impeachment complaints filed against Marcos Jr. Based on the post, the panel tackled the first impeachment rap today and the voting for the sufficiency of the substance is postponed tomorrow, February 4, 2026.
Amid the impeachment raps against the President, Malacañang previously said that Pres. Bongbong Marcos is not worried for himself on the impeachment complaint against him but for the economy of the Philippines.
