MMDA Chief Torre Went Viral for Accepting Netizen’s Challenge to Bike Along EDSA During Rush Hour

MMDA General Manager Nicolas Torre III caught public attention after accepting a challenge from a netizen to try biking along EDSA during rush hour.  

The challenge came from a netizen named Eman Presto, who dared Torre to experience cycling on EDSA at the busiest time of the day. Instead of ignoring the comment, Torre responded positively and said he was willing to take on the challenge. 

Torre even invited the netizen to join him, bring a camera, and document the ride to show how the route can be managed.

The MMDA official shared that they could take the route from Sto. Domingo in Quezon City to Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan. The distance is about 27 kilometers, a route he said he used to take regularly in the past. 

He suggested starting the ride around 6:00 in the morning and expressed confidence that they could reach Bicutan before 7:30 a.m., even during rush hour. 

The exchange garnered mixed reactions online. Some netizens praised Torre for being open to the challenge and saw it as a sign of his support for active transport and healthier ways of commuting.
