LTO Issues Show Cause Orders to 2 Drivers Involved in Road Rage Incident in Cainta

The Land Transportation Office has issued a show cause order to two drivers involved in a violent road rage incident in Cainta, Rizal.

Under the leadership of LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao, the agency issued Show Cause Orders to two vehicle owners and their assigned drivers who were involved in a physical altercation on the road.

The investigation began after a video of the incident surfaced on Facebook and quickly spread online. The footage showed one driver stepping out of his vehicle while holding an object that could cause harm.

Intense Road Rage

He acted aggressively toward the driver of another vehicle, which led to a physical fight between the two. The incident caused traffic disruption and inconvenience to other motorists who were caught in the situation.

During the review, authorities also discovered that one of the vehicles involved had an expired registration, adding to the violations connected to the case. Because of this, the LTO moved quickly to address both the unsafe behavior and the failure to follow basic transport rules.

According to the Show Cause Orders, both parties are required to appear before the Intelligence and Investigation Division on February 5, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. They must explain why they should not face administrative charges such as reckless driving, obstruction of traffic, and violations related to vehicle registration.

The motorists involved must also justify why their driver’s licenses should not be suspended or revoked.

As a temporary measure, drivers’ licenses have been suspended for 90 days. The two vehicles involved were also placed under alarm status, meaning no transactions can be made until the investigation is completed.

If the drivers or owners fail to appear or submit their explanations, the case will be decided based on available records.
