LTO Orders Content Creator to Explain After Drifting at Public Road in Tuguegarao City
The Land Transportation Office has ordered a driver to explain his actions after a video of him drifting on a public road in Tuguegarao City went viral on social media.
Over the past few days, the video of a vehicle drifting in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan is circulating online. The incident happened at a rotonda, where a Hyundai Genesis Coupe was seen going around in circles, putting nearby motorists and pedestrians at risk.
After reviewing the video, the LTO found several violations. Aside from the dangerous driving, the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident. It was also discovered that the vehicle’s registration had already expired back in July 2024. The discovery raised serious concerns about road safety and responsibility.

The LTO issued a show cause order against both the driver and the vehicle owner. They were ordered to appear before the agency to explain why they should not be held liable for the violations.
They were also told to bring the car in for a full roadworthiness inspection to check if it is still safe to be driven on public roads.
Possible charges include reckless driving, violation of the mandatory seatbelt law, and failure to comply with vehicle registration rules. The LTO also said the driver could face suspension or even cancellation of his license for being unfit to operate a motor vehicle.

While the investigation is ongoing, the driver’s license has already been suspended for ninety days. The vehicle has also been placed under alarm status, which means no transactions involving the car are allowed for now.
The LTO stressed that public safety remains its top priority. Officials reminded all drivers that roads are shared spaces, and reckless actions can put many lives in danger.
“Hindi tayo papayag na magkaroon ng mga indibidwal na gumagawa ng mga walang-ingat at ilegal na gawain sa kalsada na maaaring magdulot ng aksidente at mapanganib ang buhay ng iba,” agency wrote.
The social media users expressed their reactions to the post:
