Cops Arrest Man for Firing at Students Over Doorbell Incident

A man in Barangay Marauoy, Lipa City, Batangas was arrested after firing a gun at students over a simple doorbell incident. 

A terrifying incident happened in Lipa City, Batangas after a man allegedly fired a gun at a group of students following a simple doorbell incident. The situation caused fear among residents and raised serious concerns about public safety. 

According to police, six Grade 12 students were inside a Toyota Vios when the shooting happened. Some of the students were minors. They were reportedly in the area to pick up a schoolmate when one of them pressed the doorbell of a nearby house.

The action angered the homeowner, who then allegedly came out and opened fire at the car where the students were seated. 

The sudden gunfire shocked the students and nearby residents. Thankfully, no one was hurt during the incident. Despite the close call, the students managed to leave the area safely and immediately reported the incident to authorities.  

Police quickly conducted a follow-up operation and were able to arrest the suspect. During the arrest, officers recovered a .45 caliber pistol with two live bullets. The weapon was secured as evidence while the suspect was taken into custody for questioning.

Authorities said the man will face serious charges, including attempted murder. He will also be charged for violating the law that protects children from abuse and harm, since some of the students involved were underage.   

Local officials continue to stress that violence has no place in resolving misunderstandings, and that the law will take firm action against those who put lives at risk. 

“The Batangas police will ensure that perpetrators are held accountable and brought before the court to protect the safety and security of our citizens,” Batangas police said.
