Marcos Jr. Spends Night Under Medical Observation over Discomfort — Palace

Amid an Expected Attendance, Marcos Jr. Unable to Grace 2025 TOYM Awarding Event

MARCOS JR. – The President skipped the awarding ceremony of the 2025 The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) after spending the night under medical observation.

Despite the recent filing of an impeachment complaint against Pres. Bongbong Marcos, the Malacañang Palace previously assured that the Chief Executive remains focused in his work. With a lot of things happening in the government now, his unexpected absence at a valuable event sparked questions on the possible reason behind.

Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is expected to attend the awarding ceremony of The Outstanding Young Men or more popularly known as TOYM. The event aims to honor the Filipinos who stand at the frontlines of the huge challenges faced by the nation such as “climate change, cultural preservation, and sustainable growth”.

This year’s TOYM theme is “Excellence in Action: Building a Better Tomorrow”. At the said event, the President was represented by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto.

Recently, Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro claimed that Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. spent the night under a medical observation. According to News5, the Palace official said the medical observation was a precautionary measure after the President experienced discomfort.

“His doctors advised rest and monitoring and his condition remains stable,” Castro said.

Based on the post, Atty. Claire Castro assured that Marcos Jr. “continued to carry out his responsibilities while under medical observation”. According to her, the President is already back in Malacañang now.

Despite his absence at the 2025 TOYM awarding ceremony, Pres. Bongbong Marcos was able to extend his message for the honorees through Executive Sec. Ralph Recto. He read the speech of the President at the event.

“In you, we see an emboldened generation that is guided by purpose and committed to service… To our awardees, continue to lead with integrity and act with compassion in your respective fields. The nation awaits your next triumph,” the President said.

The following are the awardees:

  • John Jamir Aruta for Environmental and Climate Psychology
  • Raymond Marvic (Ice) Baguilat for Law, Human Rights and Indigenous Peoples
  • Rafael Sison Dionisio for Regenerative Tourism and Circular Economy Entrepreneurship
  • Deo Florence Onda, Marine Science and Sustainability

Recently, known Duterte-ally and Minority Senator Robin Padilla made a call over the impeachment talks against Marcos Jr. and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
