Jodi Sta Maria gives value to learning
Kapamilya actress Jodi Sta. Maria explained that her lifelong commitment to education stems from values instilled during her childhood.
Despite her success as an actress, Jodi found in her heart to pursue her education. She did not just stop after her graduation. She continues her educational journey.
In a recent interview, based on the article in ABS-CBN Entertainment, the actress shared that she credited her grandmother for teaching her at an early age that learning is an essential endeavor.
Jodi Sta Maria pointed out that education is important because it is something that cannot be taken away from her.
“I mean, all the material stuff pwedeng kunin ‘yan eh. Isang araw, pwede kang magising na wala na ang mga bagay-bagay sa’yo, but with knowledge and education, kahit anong mangyari, nandidito lang ‘yan [in your brain] and magagamit mo siya… [as] a tool or vehicle to get you where you want to go, where you want to be,” the Kapamilya actress said.
Jodi also believed that education requires discipline and effort, like any meaningful pursuit. She acknowledged that people have different goals in life, but wishful thinking for this is not enough. This will require hard work and a massive action.
Her desire to continue her education would always be there even though she has already success as an actress. “The yearning never left. It has always been there. I was just looking for the right time and the opportunity to do it,” she admitted.
For her, being in school again gave her genuine happiness. This makes her so happy. She spent almost three decades of her life in the entertainment industry, but her yearning to go back to school was always there.
In 2017, she found the opportunity to be in school once again, and the rest was history.
Jodi Sta Maria shared that she has been praying for this, and her heart really desired to learn more. “I am no superwoman, hindi ko ‘to magagawa. Now if this desire is God-given, if this is from You, then give me the grace to do it. Give me the grace to pull it off,” the actress said.
