Oil Price Hike Expected Next Week Amid Global Tensions

DOE Says Oil Price Hike Expected on Tuesday (January 20, 2026)

FUEL PRICE UPDATE – Several gas stations in the country are expected an oil price hike starting next week amid global tensions.

Starting Tuesday (January 20, 2026), motorists should prepare for higher fuel costs as global oil prices continue to climb due to political tensions abroad.

The Department of Energy (DOE) has projected increases in gasoline, diesel, and kerosene based on recent trading activity in the Asian market.

According to the DOE, gasoline may go up by around P0.60 per liter, diesel by about P1.35, and kerosene by P1.00. These figures do not yet include the operating costs and other fees from oil companies, which could add another P0.40 to P0.50 per liter to the total price at the pump.

Oil Price Hike

The recent increase in global oil prices has been largely influenced by unrest in Iran, where widespread protests have raised concerns about possible disruptions in crude supply. These fears have affected the market even though there is currently a surplus of oil products worldwide.

Industry experts have warned that diesel prices could jump as much as P2 per liter, while gasoline may increase by up to P1.20 per liter. If these projections hold, it will mark the fourth consecutive increase for diesel and the second consecutive rise for gasoline.

Kerosene prices are also expected to climb for the third week in a row.

Oil Price Hike

Fuel retailers typically announce official price adjustments on Mondays, with implementation set for the following day. With another round of increases likely, Philippine motorists will need to plan ahead and adjust their budgets, while staying aware of the ongoing developments affecting the global oil market.
