Sen. Ping Lacson, the only senator who abstained from making a vote, claimed that he and now-Senate Pres. Tito Sotto will revive the impeachment case in case the Supreme Court changes its ruling. The high court ruled the impeachment complaint against the Vice President as unconstitutional.

According to the Supreme Court, the impeachment complaint violated the one-year ban rule. The ban is set to be lifted on February 6, 2026. Prior to it, some groups have expressed the possibility of filing a fresh impeachment case against the Vice President.
Recently, Malacañang spoke anew on the possible fresh impeachment complaint against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on a post of News5 on social media, Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro claimed that it will allegedly be treated like how the flood control investigation was dealt with.

“Kung ano ang pagtrato sa pag-iimbestiga sa maanomalyang flood control projects, gano’n din po ang gawing pagtrato sa pag-iimbestiga patungkol dito sa impeachment laban kay VP Sara,” the Malacañang official said as per the post.
Previously, Malacañang spoke on the side of Pres. Bongbong Marcos on the possibility of a fresh impeachment case being filed against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
