#WalangPasok: Class Suspensions for Monday (January 5, 2025)

Class Suspensions for Monday (January 5, 2025) Due to Bad Weather

WALANG PASOK – Several local government units in the country declared class suspensions due to the inclement weather conditions.

On Monday (January 5, 2025), classes in several parts of the Philippines were suspended as continuous rains affected many communities. Local government units decided to halt classes to keep students, teachers, and school personnel safe from possible flooding and other weather-related risks.

According to weather authorities, multiple weather systems are influencing the country at the same time. The shear line continues to bring rain to parts of the Visayas and the Bicol Region, while the northeast monsoon is causing light but steady rainfall across large portions of Luzon.

Class Suspensions

In southern areas, easterlies are contributing to rain showers, particularly in Palawan and nearby regions. Even without a tropical cyclone or low-pressure area, the weather remains unsettled.

Some provinces were expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall, with totals reaching as much as 100 millimeters from Sunday to Monday. Areas in Bicol and Eastern Visayas were identified as more vulnerable, especially communities in low-lying and mountainous locations that have already experienced days of rain. Because of these risks, several local governments chose to suspend classes as a precautionary measure.
