According to the post, a friend of the netizen attempted to apply for a franchise of Potato Corner. The friend was reportedly asked to submit a detailed business proposal. This included the suggested location, the reasons why the place was ideal, and the target market for the business.
The applicant felt confident after submitting the proposal, believing it was well prepared and had strong potential.
However, weeks turned into months without any response from the company. What made the situation more upsetting was the discovery that the exact location mentioned in the proposal later became the site of a newly opened Potato Corner branch.
It led to suspicion and disappointment, especially for the applicant who felt that their idea was used without giving them the chance to operate the franchise.
Another Threads user shared a similar experience involving a long-time franchisee in Parkmall Cebu. According to the comment, the franchisee had been operating for years and was doing well in terms of sales.
When the company noticed the strong performance, the franchise contract was reportedly not renewed. Soon after, a company-owned store opened in the same location.
