Sen. Robin Padilla Speaks on Sen. Bato dela Rosa amid Reported ICC Arrest Warrant
ROBIN PADILLA – The Senate Minority Senator revealed his advice to fellow Sen. Bato dela Rosa amid a reported arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against him.
Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s ex-spokesman Harry Roque previously confirmed that the ICC arrest warrant against Sen. Bato dela Rosa is allegedly out. According to him, the foreign court has supposedly released the arrest warrant long ago but it is only recently that the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) have allegdly received it.
The claim of Roque came a few weeks after Ombudsman Boying Remulla claimed that the ICC has supposedly issued an arrest warrant against Sen. Bato dela Rosa. He was a former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief under the tenure of former Pres. Duterte.
Duterte remains detained under the custody of the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands since March. The foreign court recently junked his interim release plea. It was last March 11 when the former President was arrested by the Philippine authorities who assisted the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
On the same day that he was arrested, Duterte was flown out of the country en route for The Hague for the transfer of his custody to the ICC. The foreign court also junked his camp’s challenge to its jurisdiction.
Recently, amid the ongoing ICC detention of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte, another known ally of the former President, Sen. Robin Padilla, revealed his advice to his fellow lawmaker in the upper chamber, Sen. Bato dela Rosa, amid a reported ICC arrest warrant against him. Both of them belong to the Senate Minority bloc following the shakeup in the chamber amid the flood control mess in the country.
Based on a post of News5 on social media, Sen. Robin Padilla advises Sen. Bato dela Rosa not to surrender to the foreign power. According to him, they have no communication but he is confident that Dela Rosa is extra cautious most especially that he is a former member of the national police.
Sen. Robin Padilla and Sen. Bato dela Rosa are among the senators who call for the interim release of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Amid the reported ICC arrest warrant against him, former Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno claimed that Sen. Bato dela Rosa can allegedly free former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte.
