Nadine Lustre On Why She Accepted A Mother Role In “Call Me Mother”

This is why Nadine Lustre accepted this role.

Vice Ganda and Nadine Lustre are reunited in the “Call Me Mother” movie, and here’s why the latter actress accepted the mother role.

One of the official entries for the Metro Manila Film Festival 2025 is “Call Me Mother,” which also marks the reunion of Vice Ganda and Nadine Lustre. In this film, they are exploring motherhood in their roles.

This movie also marks the first time Lustre accepted a mother role. In an interview, she was asked why she accepted it. According to her, the collaboration with Vice Ganda again was one of the major factors in accepting the offer. She was, at first, hesitant to accept it, as it might typecast her, but the thought of working again with the Unkabogable Star was the opportunity she could not just reject.

“Mayroon kasi na baka maisip kasi na ma-typecast ako and actually I don’t think naman. Hindi ko na inisip iyon and sabi ko na lang na ‘Game po’ kasi gusto ko talaga makawork ulit si Ate Vice… Hindi ako papayag na hindi ko makakasama (ulit) si Ate Vice,” she shared.

Part of her preparation to portray the role was asking her friends what it felt like to become a mother at a young age. She also draws inspiration from her mother, who became one when she was just 21.

She shared, “Yung mom ko rin ipinanganak niya ako noong 21 siya so parang ngayon iniimagine ko kung ano pinagdaanan niya noong 20s din siya and hindi talaga madali iyon. For her to actually give up a lot for me, sobrang saludo talaga sa moms. Kung ngayon, tatanungin niyo ako ngayon, hindi ko talaga kaya iyon.”

The movie’s official trailer has already earned millions of views across various social media platforms. This is helmed by award-winning filmmaker Jun Robles Lana. The film also stars “Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab” housemates Klarisse De Guzman, Mika Salamanca, Brent Manalo, Esnyr Ranollo, River Joseph, and Shuvee Etrata, as well as Chanda Romero, Carmi Martin, Ces Quesada, John “Sweet” Lapus, MC Muah, Iyah Mina, Jennifer Sevilla, Robert Ortega, Tanya Gomez, and Divine Tetay.
