President Bongbong Marcos has declared a one-year state of national calamity due to Tino’s devastation, ordering all government agencies to carry out continuous, urgent response and critical recovery measures for disaster-stricken areas.

With thousands affected, there was one story that broke the hearts of the people recently on It’s Showtime. In the “Laro Laro Pick” segment of the noontime show, the contestants were those who suffered because of Tino. Luna from Cebu was interviewed, and she shared her story.

According to her, during the onslaught, the floodwaters rapidly increased and engulfed their area. She and her children decided to stay on their roof for safety, but the water continued to rise.

In an attempt to save her children, she built a makeshift bridge that would connect them to their neighbor. Her first child crossed first, and she followed with her 3-month-old baby in a sling bag. When she followed, the waters took her, and what happened next was a blur to her.

What she just knew after gaining her consciousness was that she had lost her mother-in-law, her three-year-old child, and her three-month-old baby. She lost them in a snap, and there was not a word that she could utter to describe the pain she felt from these losses – all at once.

She woke up without knowing what had happened to her children. All she knew was the reality that she had lost both of them. She didn’t know how or when to start from this kind of pain and trauma. She remembered fighting for her life, but amid the fight, she could only think of them.
