Man Captured on CCTV Stealing Electrical Wire in Caloocan City

ROBBERY INCIDENT – A man was caught on CCTV stealing an electrical wire in Barangay 162, Caloocan City.

On Wednesday (November 26), the incident took place early in the morning while the homeowners were still resting. They first sensed something was wrong when a sudden power outage happened around 9 a.m., even though their electric meter continued running.

The homeowner went outside to check what was happening out of concern and curiosity. That was when he discovered that their electrical wire had been cut. He later understood the situation better after a neighbor reviewed their security camera footage.

The sudden loss of electricity caused a lot of inconvenience, especially since the household had elderly members who could not stay in the heat and children who needed power for their online classes.

The stolen item was a 50-meter aluminum service drop wire, the type that connects the electric post to a house. In the barangay’s CCTV footage, the suspect can be seen quickly rolling up the cable and placing it inside his backpack before leaving the area.

Barangay desk officer Irene Cajucom shared that the suspect is actually a resident of the same community. She explained that the man is already known for repeated theft cases and has been involved in several similar incidents.

He was also the same person seen on CCTV last October 31, when he snatched a cellphone from another resident. His record shows a pattern of theft in the area.

Because of the incident, the homeowner had to spend more than P2,000 to have their electricity reconnected. He has already filed a formal complaint with the police. Authorities continue to search for the suspect as the investigation goes on.
