Jeep in Romblon Carrying Several Pigs Catches Fire in Romblon, One Pig Dies, Two Injured
A jeep loaded with pigs caught fire in Magdiwang, Romblon, leaving one pig dead and two others with burned skin.
The incident happened in Barangay Poblacion just after 1 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon (November 26, 2025), creating panic in the area as thick black smoke rose from the vehicle.
Netizen Jane Mutia Romero shared a video showing the jeep engulfed in smoke while pigs scrambled to escape the burning vehicle. Onlookers could be seen trying to help as the animals ran around in confusion.

Fire Officer 1 Arnie T. Villaganas of the Magdiwang Fire Station said the fire started due to an electrical short circuit. Their office received the report at around 1:17 p.m., and firefighters immediately headed to the site.
However, when they arrived, the flames had already been put out by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, which was located near the scene and was able to respond quickly.
Fortunately, the jeep did not suffer major damage and remained functional after the fire was extinguished. Most of the pigs managed to jump out of the vehicle as the fire broke out, but two of them were unable to escape in time.
One died inside the jeep, while another sustained burns. A third pig was also found nearby with similar injuries.
Authorities reminded vehicle owners to regularly check their wiring and ensure proper maintenance to avoid similar incidents. While the situation could have been worse, the quick response of nearby rescuers helped prevent the fire from spreading and causing further harm.
