Statement of Malacañang on Marcos Jr. amid Illegal Drug Use Accusations

Malacañang claimed that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is not taking resignation as an option following the allegations of Senator Imee Marcos.

At the rally of the Iglesia ni Cristo members, presidential sister and Sen. Imee Marcos claimed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos is allegedly using illegal substance. Her statement came amid the accusations of illegal drug use against the President and the calls for him to undergo a drug testing.

In her speech before the members of the INC, Sen. Imee Marcos asked her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos, to go home so he can be treated. According to her, then, he was still not her responbility but their family allegedly knows the problem with him.

The Senator further claimed that she can afford to see her brother losing the presidency than to lose him due to illegal drugs. She also made the same allegation of illegal drug use against First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.

Following the claim of Sen. Imee Marcos, Davao Congressman Paolo Duterte was quick to issue a statement and call for Pres. Bongbong Marcos to undergo a drug testing. According to him, he should come clean if he is really not illegal drugs.

Duterte also claimed that the drug testing should be enforced among all officials of the government without exemption and “special treatment”. On the part of Malacañang, it immediately stressed that Marcos Jr. had allegedly tested negative in drug use prior to his presidential run in 2022.

Recently, Malacañang reacted to the possibility of Pres. Bongbong Marcos resigning after Sen. Imee Marcos’ allegations against him. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, resignation is not an option for the Chief Executive.

“The President is still working and keeps on working for the country so hindi po option sa administrasyon, sa Pangulo ang pagbibitiw,” Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro sad.

Based on the report, the Malacañang official also claimd that Pres. Bongbong Marcos will bravely face the challenges in the country. According to her, those who are making noise are mere noise.

While the President remains mum, aside from the Palace, presidential son and Ilocos Norte Congressman Sandro Marcos slammed his aunt, Sen. Imee Marcos, over her accusations against PBBM.
