Sandro Marcos released a statement after Imee Marcos’s controversial statement
Senator Imee Marcos had a fiery revelation against her brother, President Bongbong Marcos, and here’s what her nephew, Ilocos Norte 1st District Representative Sandro Marcos, said about this.
The Senator accused the President and his wife, First Lady Liza Marcos, of using illegal drugs during the second day of the anti-corruption rally organized by Iglesia ni Cristo (INC).
Sen. Imee garnered loud cheers from the rallyists when she said, “I knew that he was using drugs,” referring to her younger brother.
This garnered mixed reactions from the online community. Following that fiery statement from Sen. Imee Marcos, Cong. Sandro Marcos released a statement condemning his aunt.
The lawmaker said that he has always acknowledged and respected his Tita’s role in the early part of his public life. Cong. Sandro said that this respect remained to be there, and this is the reason why he would speak about this issue for the first and last time.
He admitted that it pained him to see his aunt resorting to a “web of lies” just to destabilize the administration, for her own political ambition.
The Congressman also stressed that everything that Sen. Imee said during the rally was baseless, untrue, and would result in nothing good.
“My cousins Borgy, Gov. Matthew, and Atty. Michael can attest that these allegations that were insinuated against me are false,” the Congressman said. He added that, whatever happened between their parents, as cousins, they will not allow themselves to be dragged into the issue.
Cong. Sandro added that it saddened him to see his aunt betraying her own family. He encouraged the public to unite behind the truth and not to amplify narratives against the government.
“Panahon ngayon para magtulungan, hindi para magpalaganap ng gulo at destabilisasyon. Hindi ito asal ng isang tunay na kapatid,” Cong. Sandro Marcos stressed.
