Oyo Sotto talked about his past life
Showbiz personality Oyo Sotto admitted that there was a time in his life when he could call himself “corrupt.”
Oyo is the son of showbiz veterans Vic Sotto and Dina Bonnevie. At a young age, Oyo, with his older sister Danica Sotto-Pingris, was already exposed to the world of the entertainment industry. Eventually, just like his sister, Oyo also followed in his parents’ footsteps.
For several years, he did TV shows and movies. Currently, he is part of the online show House of D, led by Dina on YouTube. They were joined by Danica and her husband, Marc Pingris, and Oyo’s wife, Kristine Hermosa.
In the latest episode of their family talk show, Oyo Sotto talked about being “corrupt” in the past. He said that he spent almost all of his savings on his past vices, such as drugs and alcohol.
However, he said that his “corrupt” lifestyle changed because of his faith. The actor recalled his past while discussing the issue of politicians and corruption in the government.
“Corrupt din ako dati. I was corrupted — nagsisinungaling ako, nambababae, nagda-drugs, umiinom, nagsisigarilyo, kung anu-ano. Pero when I met Jesus, noong nagkaroon ako ng relasyon sa Kanya, doon naayos ‘yung buhay ko. Repentance,” he said.
When Dina asked what triggered his change, Oyo answered that it was during the time when he was doing drugs and his money was gone, his savings were gone. At that time, he was just borrowing his sister’s car. He saw that his bank account had just P2,000.
That was the time when realization came to him, and he learned from his experience. He felt that he had to fall over and over and that he had to hit his face in the mud before he realized. After that experience, Oyo said he surrendered himself to God and repented, and even suggested that politicians should do the same.
