A fake statement was attributed to Kathryn Bernardo
Star Magic defended Asia’s Superstar, Kathryn Bernardo, against a claim that she had made this statement about extending help to other people.
Kathryn is one of the most successful stars of her generation in the Philippine entertainment industry. With all her blockbuster films and hit TV series, she gained superstar status. She has one of the most avid fandoms in showbiz.
However, bashing is inevitable. She has been under scrutiny for several instances. In recent months, she was criticized online for her alleged relationship with Lucena City Mayor Mark Alcala. Some netizens also bashed her for being quiet while many celebrities were airing their sentiments regarding the corruption issue in the country.
Her Most Influential Celebrity of the Year award from EdukCircle was even questioned because she has not yet spoken about the corruption in the Philippines.
Kathryn Bernardo also received negative comments amid the recent calamities, as some celebrities were seen donating to the victims and posting about the unfortunate events on social media.
Last month, a fan page of Kathryn shared a post saying that the actress donated Php20 million to the victims of the 6.9 magnitude earthquake in Cebu. Even though there were those who admired her because of this post, some netizens were apprehensive about the amount, while, for some, it was just for good publicity.
In a recent Instagram post that Star Magic shared, a clarification was made regarding the fake statement attributed to Kathryn. “Star Magic would like to inform the public that our artist Kathryn Bernardo did not make the remark that is circulating on social media. We ask everyone not to share the fake post and verify information before sharing,” the talent management company of ABS-CBN stated.
The fake statement was posted on the Facebook page ShowBuzz. It claimed that the Kapamilya star was reminding people to extend help without posting it online, or should not be featured as content.
Netizens in the comments section, especially fans of Kathryn, slammed the fake statement and they condemned the people behind this.
