Bangus Prices in Pangasinan Dropped to P100 per Kilo After Being Battered by Typhoon Uwan

Bangus prices dropped to P100 per kilo in San Fabian, Pangasinan after being battered by Typhoon Uwan.

After the devastation brought by Typhoon Uwan, residents of San Fabian, Pangasinan have been finding ways to recover and adapt to their situation. One of the most noticeable changes in the area is the sudden drop in the price of bangus (milkfish), a well-known local product. From its usual higher price, it is now being sold for only P100 per kilo.

Many locals took advantage of this by selling bangus at the roadside, hoping to earn a little despite the recent challenges. Shoppers, on the other hand, gladly made the most of the opportunity to buy fresh fish at a much cheaper price.

The streets of San Fabian became busy again, filled with vendors trying to rebuild their livelihood and residents stocking up on food for their families.

However, life in the town is still far from normal. A large portion of San Fabian remains without electricity, making it difficult for people to charge their phones and communicate with loved ones.

The weak mobile signal has also added to the struggle of those trying to reach family members or contact authorities for updates.

Several residents have begun returning to their homes as the floodwaters in higher areas have started to recede. They are slowly cleaning up and repairing their homes, showing the usual resilience that Pangasinenses are known for.

However, those living near the coastal barangays are still not allowed to return home. Authorities continue to warn them about possible storm surges that could put their lives in danger. Many remain hopeful that better days are ahead after the wrath of Typhoon Uwan.
